Introduction Section:
Since I have left Boeing in 2013, I have been enjoying life and helping the people that I love. My father died
of Pancreatic cancer in 2017, and my mother has had a stroke in 2022. I have moved back to my family home
and been enjoying the family that I love. I have been working on some business ideas that I would like
to get up and running.
I decided that my true love is math and logic. I am currently building my portfolio with projects in If you have a project that you need help with based on my background please let me know. I am probably interested in it, if I can work remotely much of the time. I still need to drive my mother to a couple
of appointments each week, and be able to look in on her once and a while. I couple of days in an office is fine in the Seattle/Tacoma area.
Other contract work, or part-time work I am interested would be in the field of requirements engineering, system analyst work, application analyst, business analyst duties related to software systems The only programming languages that I am working with right now are SQL(SQL Server, Oracle), HTML/CSS, and building ColdFusion applications. Why ColdFusion? Because, it really gets a bad reputation for not being object-oriented like Java and .Net. I have heard it from just
about everyone. But underlying it all it is Java methods. And, if the CFML doesn't provide the functionality, then you can write your own custom Java methods. The CFML encapsulates the methods, it provides reuse of component, and the CFCs are used in place of classes. It also uses Hibernate as its ORM. I wanted to try it out again before it goes away. It is a rapid-build architecture. Hopefully, someone will buy it form Adobe and continue to update it and provide more books and documentation.
About my portfolio site: I was a developer when I came to Boeing in 2005, and I designed Adobe ColdFusion sites for the defense side of Boeing. Then, we used tables to put in all of the form components (text boxes, drop downs etc.). Obviously now, everything must size dynamically to fit on many different devices. So,
I this is the first time I worked with flex box, css, and nested div tags to create the layout. I am happy with the results. The layout is not exactly as professional as I plan to use for my other projects, because most users expect to see more graphics that I used for this portfolio. I was just a proof of concept for me so to speak.

Project Section
My third project that I am planning on developing is a new approach to recruiting and application process. This process is based only on interviewing the applicants. My aim is to collect as little personal data as possible.
The recruiter would initially schedule a number of ten minute interviews. The interviewer will write down questions pertaining to the job in a question and answer format. The interviewer can as questions about skills, work history, education, etc., The applicant will answer the questions directly, to the best of their knowledge. The interview will only keep track of red flags (contradictions, lying, etc.) that they hear and record a check mark next to the question they asked.
Then, the interviewer, will select a number of applicants with the fewest check marks to come back for a longer interview, say one hour. The process would be the same, only the interviewer would drill down on the pertinent questions relating to the job at a lower level of detail. Ultimately, the interviewer will select the applicant with the fewest number of check marks for the job.
I believe this new approach will eliminate the need for collecting reams of personal data on each applicant, robots for scanning applications looking for keywords, even background checks. I believe this process will show even someone who has a record, if they have decided that they now want to be trusted and have integrity. It shows they have changed; been rehabilitated successfully. Their may be some types of background checks that may be required by law, but I believe we need to give people a chance, and there is a way to figure out if they are now a trustworthy.
This would eliminate the need for cover letters, reference, work history, some background checks, rounds and rounds of interviews, etc., Also, it should be noted that even if an applicant shows that he/she is very knowledgeable in their field, if their are any check marks that are recorded, then it could show that they cannot be trusted and could do even more damage. I don't believe that it will be that time consuming for a recruiter to perform, and could have good results.
Project Section
Another project that I would like to start, is a campaign starting locally to recreate phone directories like in the past, that have directories
of people (private individuals) who willing to post their name, address, and phone number (like in the original white pages of the past era) for a
region, like Seattle, WA on a city or government affiliated host (website), that is non-modifiable, that is not altered by hackers or scammers. These
directories would be sponsored by the city, or government and free of charge, like the phone books of the past.
One example could be to have the directories in an image file (.jpeg) that people can look at (old-school style), zoom in on etc., that are harder for
a malicious user to post fraudulent data. I see a need for such an application, since most all phone directories now cost money, or even a monthly
subscription to look up people you may now.
I also would publish the same directory for businesses in the area, like the Yellow Pages from years past, that are free, and locked down so
malicious users cannot modify the content.
What drives this? We have recently had scammers alter content on the internet, business address etc., that are not real in attempt to scam our
family out of money. If you cannot trust your internet at home to verify an address and phone number we are sitting ducks for scammers :)
